Buy early
Monthly transit passes go on sale on the 20th of each month. Customers wishing to buy their January monthly
transit pass can do so as early as December 20. So buy early and beat the rush!
Get Your Transit Pass at Vons
Vons is the exclusive grocery store outlet for transit pass and Compass Card sales. Compass Cards can be purchased or reloaded at the Vons locations listed in the left column. Paper transit passes are available at all other San Diego County Vons locations as listed in the middle column. Transit passes and Compass Cards are available at Vons from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. In the future, all Vons stores will sell and reload Compass Cards.
Compass Cards can also be purchased and reloaded at Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and North County Transit District (NCTD) locations. Please scroll down for other locations that sell or reload Compass Cards.

Get your Transit Pass Online
Monthly paper transit passes and Adult, full fare Compass Cards can be purchased online at www.511sd.com/estore starting the 20th of the month. You may purchase your monthly pass with a credit or debit card. Please allow seven to 10 business days for processing and mailing. First time purchases of discounted fare Compass Cards (Senior, Disabled, Medicare, or Youth) must be made in person. Valid I.D. is required.
Reload your Compass Card Online
Your Compass Card can be reloaded online at www.511sd.com/estore with a credit or debit card. Both full fare and discounted fare Compass Cards can be reloaded online starting the 20th of the month. Please allow three business days for processing Compass Card reloads. For added convenience, you can link your Compass Card to your debit or credit card and have your transit pass automatically reloaded each month. Call 511 and say "Compass" to set up automatic reload.
Order your Monthly Transit Pass or Reload your Compass Card by Mail
You may order paper monthly passes and Adult, full fare Compass Cards by mail. First time purchases of discounted fare Compass Cards (Senior, Disabled, Medicare, or Youth) must be made in person. Valid I.D. is required. All Compass Cards can be reloaded by mail.
Please complete this form and send a check or money order for your requested pass to SANDAG, Pass by Mail, 401 B Street, Suite 800, San Diego, CA 92101. For paper passes or Adult, full fare Compass Cards, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope so we can mail your pass to you. Please allow seven to 10 business days for processing and mailing. Please allow three business days, after receipt of your order, to reload Compass Cards.
New RegionPlus Day Pass is Here!
The new RegionPlus Day Pass provides one-day access to all transit services in San Diego County. Get your $14 RegionPlus Day Pass for one day of unlimited riding on COASTER, Trolley, SPRINTER, BREEZE, and MTS buses (except MTS rural routes, ADA Paratransit, and Special Services). The Regional Day Pass for $5 is still offered for unlimited riding on MTS Bus and Trolley routes (except Premium Express, Rural, ADA Paratransit, and Special Services) as well as NCTD BREEZE buses and the SPRINTER. You may purchase these day passes at Ticket Vending Machines at all rail stations, on MTS and NCTD buses, and at the MTS Transit Store and NCTD Customer Service Centers.
Compass Card Rollout Continues!
The official rollout of Compass Cards to all public transit continues! Passes now available on the Compass Card are COASTER Monthly, Premium Express Monthly, and Regional Monthly.
